FAA Instructor Certifications Checklist:
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Requirements

Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP)

Hold a current FAA medical certificate

Meet age and language requirements (at least 18, read/speak/write/understand English)

Complete CFI ground and flight training with an authorized instructor

Pass the CFI Knowledge Test (written exam)

Pass the CFI Practical Test (checkride) with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE)
