Private Pilot

An FAA certification that allows an individual to operate an aircraft for personal or recreational purposes, but not for compensation or hire. It demonstrates that the pilot has met specific training and flight experience requirements.

Instrument

An Instrument Rating (IR) is an additional certification that allows a pilot to operate an aircraft solely by reference to instruments, typically in low visibility or adverse weather conditions. It requires advanced training in navigation, flight procedures, and instrument approaches.

Commercial

A Commercial Pilot Rating is a certification that allows a pilot to operate aircraft for compensation or hire. It requires advanced flight training and higher proficiency standards than a private pilot license.

CFI / CFII / MEI

A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) is a pilot authorized to teach others how to fly and provide training toward various pilot certifications. A Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) teaches instrument flight, while a Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) provides training in multi-engine aircraft operations.

ATP
